A molded persimmon in soft coral pink and sculpted leaves in celadon green and white rise from the surface in gentle relief. Inside, a hand-painted persimmon branch in coral, blue, and green on a white ground makes a pretty surprise. The rim has a dark brown edge, the foot has a radial ribbed pattern, and the base carries a hand-painted blue mark. The persimmon is a traditional Japanese symbol of good fortune. It works as a trinket or catchall dish, a small decorative bowl, or a shelf piece, and suits Asian export, chinoiserie, and maximalist styling. • Era: c. 1980s-1990s, Japanese porcelain • Material: Glazed porcelain • Shape: Footed bowl with flared sides • Marks: Hand-painted blue signature-style mark on the base • Condition: Good. Light surface dust and a few small dark specks on the interior glaze. Wipe it clean before photographing and check whether they come off.
